The Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, has stated that he is not averse to inviting embattled West Bromwich Albion striker, Osaze Odemwingie, back to the Super Eagles.
Osaze, Obafemi Martins, and the Super Eagles Captain, Joseph Yobo, were not on the list of the players invited by the Nigerian coach for the busy June matches.
Keshi, however, said that Osaze was not completely out of his plans.
“’I didn’t say I will alter the released list but I will still invite him to the National Team,” Keshi said.
“Osaze is a Nigerian player and he’s entitled to play for the country. I will only invite him when I need him; I still have him in my plans.”
Keshi had been reportedly under pressure from some football administrators to invite the striker who last played for Nigeria in February 2012.
The striker went public on twitter to lambast Keshi and the NFF after he was excluded from the Nigerian squad to the Africa Nations Cup. The Super Eagles eventually emerged African champions without Osaze.
The forward is also having problems with his English Premier League club and has lost his regular starting berth and fined for also publicly criticising his club after a failed transfer.
