Outspoken Ijaw leader, Edwin Clark, has chastised Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson and former Governor Timipre Sylva over their conduct and that of their supporters during the just-concluded governorship election.
Edwin Clark described both men as non-democrats and power-grabbers, who lack basic knowledge about democracy.
Speaking with journalists at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja, the former Federal Commissioner for Information said the violence and irregularities that characterized the Bayelsa State governorship election, is a brazen and open show of shame.
Clark, a proponent of the administration of Goodluck Jonathan, accused Dickson and Sylva of being responsible because of the level of desperation and widespread violence.
According to the Ijaw leader, the prevalent political violence in Bayelsa State is caused by politicians’ desperation and greed.
“The two contestants have served the people as governor of the state, the people already know their individual capabilities. They should have allowed the electorate to peacefully decide who they wanted.”
“It is very unfortunate that both of them are not democrats and therefore, they do not know what democracy means. What they know is power.”
