Afolabi Akanni, the Ekiti Lawmaker that was last week, alleged to have died in the custody of the Department of State Services facilities, has been released.
The state government had claimed that credible information suggests that Akanni had given up the ghost while being held by the security agency.
The DSS responded almost immediately, by parading an evidently weak Akanni before journalists.
Vanguard now reports that the lawmaker was released on Tuesday evening, and was subsequently admitted at a private hospital in Abuja.
The Ekiti lawmaker is said to be very weak and could barely speak. “I am not well. I am sick. I am sick”, he was quoted to have said.
Akanni further revealed that he was treated for malaria at the DSS detention facility after he twice collapsed while stressing that the DSS never told him why he was detained.
