When should we expect Fayose’s plan for IPOB?

by Alexander O. Onukwue

The floor is now open for Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, to convince Nigerians that he can indeed take Buhari’s seat as he has claimed.

By officially unveiling a campaign poster for 2019, Fayose has now the duty to start making the right arguments about his competence, ability and integrity for the job. The arguments will be demonstrated in words, actions and inactions, across the coterie of issues that need drastic attention in the country today.

If he is serious, he would know to begin posturing strategically. That will involve being visible and heard when matters of national importance come up in public discourse. At the moment, the tensions are rife about the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who seem bent on leaving Nigeria as a separate independent state.

Fayose has, so far, expressed sympathies for the group and has been pictured with their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, but will his approach remain the same as a presidential aspirant?
