Saraki’s corruption trial stopped by Federal High Court

The trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, by the Code of Conduct Bureau, has been halted by the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court.

The CCB, had fixed Friday, September 18, to arraign Saraki, over a 13- count charge of corruption and alleged false declaration of assets.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed, however, ruled on Thursday, that the Federal Minist‎ry of Justice, Chairman of the CCB and Chairman of the Code of Conduct tribunal, CCT, should all appear before the High Court on Monday, September 21 to explain why Saraki should be prosecuted over the alleged offence.

The Federal High Court also summoned the deputy director in the office of the Attorney General of the Federation, M.S. Hassan, who signed the charge-sheet against Saraki.

The court’s orders was made after hearing an ex-parte application that was filed by Saraki’s lawyer, Mahmud Magaji, SAN.
