Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki, a former Sultan of Sokoto has died at the age of 93.

A statement by the Secretary, Sultanate Council of Sokoto, Alhaji Umar Faruk on Monday said Dasuki, the 18th Sultan died after a protracted illness.

According to the statement, he would be buried at the Hubbaren Shehu, Sokoto, after the afternoon prayer (Zuhr) on Tuesday.

A funeral prayer will also be held for him at the Sultan Bello Juma’at Mosque in Sokoto.

Dasuki was the Sultan of Sokoto between November 6, 1988 and April 20, 1996, and was deposed in 1996 during the military government of late Gen. Sani Abacha.
