A 30-year-old man, Musibau Mustapha, has been arrested by the police for killing his hunting partner, Sunday Ijasa, during a hunting trip at gbara Odo Ekiti in Ekiti South-West Local Government Area of the Ekiti state.
Mr. Mustapha was said to have mistaken his colleague, for an antelope and pulled the trigger, a shot which ended the Sunday’s life instantly.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Mr Victor Babayemi, in Ado Ekiti, weekend, the suspect was arrested following an allegation that he killed the deceased while hunting at Igbara Odo Ekiti.
According to him, Mustapha was said to have mistook the deceased for an antelope.The police image maker added that there were inconsistencies in the statement made by the suspect after preliminary investigations conducted by the police.Babayemi further said autopsy had been conducted on the corpse, while investigation is still on-going, adding that the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
