If you’ve been on TikTok or anywhere near a romance playlist recently, you’ve probably heard a soulful track, titled “Arike.” The artist responsible for this heartwarming track is none other than Kunmie.
The upcoming artist, Oluwabukunmi Ariyibi Peter, popularly known as Kunmie, is the voice behind the viral afro-R&B hit, “Arike”, which was released on the 15th of February 2025.
This viral hit first gained traction when he posted it on TikTok. In an interview, he mentioned that he wasn’t expecting such numbers as he wrote the song just to escape from emotional stress and loneliness.
Kunmie did not, however, stop there. He released a four-track EP titled “Before We Became Strangers” on the 4th of March 2025, and just like his viral hit, his fans are loving the vibe this new drop is bringing to their eardrums.
He has garnered quite a fan base in such a short period with over 218,000 followers on TikTok, 63,000 followers on Instagram, and 1.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
The young artist is known for his ability to serenade his fans in the best way possible, and his hits are doing numbers, with over 39 million streams on “Arike” and a million on his new EP, “Before We Became Strangers”.
Kunmie is a promising young artist who pours his heart into his songs. His songs are definitely one for the road.
