A political group, the Audu/Faleke Political Organisation on Friday condemned the arrest and detention of Mohammed Audu, son of former governor of Kogi State, Abubakar Audu for alleged robbery and homicide.
In a statement by the spokesperson for the group, Duro Meseko, the group alleged that there is a plan to manipulate the judiciary with regards to the case.
“We thought the alarm we raised few days ago about plans to arm-twist the judiciary with a fake security report would serve to keep the Bello’s camp in check but rather it has brought out from them a fresh plan to indiscriminately arrest Audu/Faleke supporters ahead of the Supreme Court judgement.
“We hereby condemn the arrest and detention of Mohammed Audu in its entirety on trumped up charges and call on the Inspector-General of Police to direct his men accordingly in order not to fall prey to executive manipulation,” part of the statement read.
It also said there was no way Mohammed would have been in his hometown on the day of the alleged attack on his younger brother, as he was at a Sharia court with his other siblings.
