Sources have revealed to YNaija that thugs believed to be loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party, are presently attacking protesters in front of INEC office in Umuahia.
According to the reports, the thugs besieged the INEC office with machetes and guns believed to attack people who were protesting the alleged manipulation of election results from three local government areas.
The state Returning Officer, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba,who is also the Vice Chancellor, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, had cancelled results for Isiala-Ngwa North, Osisioma and Obimgwa local government areas citing widespread electoral malpractices, violence, ballot box snatching and reports of independent foreign observers that monitored the exercise.
Buses were also smashed by PDP thugs earlier in the day in an attack on APGA supporters,after which they went back to mobilise for war.
The state Governor, Theodore Orji, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, and the Minister of State for Defence, Col. Austin Akobundu (retd.) had on Sunday, stormed the venue of the collation exercise for the state governorship election to demand the reversal of the decision.
The PDP chieftains reportedly succeeded in arm-twisting Ozumba to reverse his decision on the cancellation of the governorship results in the three local government areas.
