The chief butcher of Boko Haram and a senior member of the sect, Mohammed Zakari has been arrested by detectives attached to the Bauchi state command of the Nigeria Police.
He was arrested on Saturday around 2 p.m. after an intensive operation by security forces against the activities of insurgents in the Balmo forest in Bauchi State.
This information was disseminated to the public by Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer, who described Mr. Zakari as “the self styled chief butcher” of the insurgent camp.“He was discovered to have actively participated in the April attack against customs officers at Kari town, along Maiduguri road, Bauchi State,” he said.
Zakari, who hails from Kaigamari Village, Daptchari in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi was alleged to be linked to the recent slaughter of seven people, including women and children.
The police added that he was arrested on Darazo-Basrika road while fleeing from the counter insurgency operation around the forest.
Mohammed Zakari was said to have been tutored in the art of insurgency at Gombe forest under the leadership of another wanted Boko Haram insurgent, Abba Taura.
