Jonathan’s uncle released by abductors, 34 days later

Inegite Jonathan, the uncle of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has been freed by his abductors.

The 72-year-old was on February 17, kidnapped at his residence in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

Also kidnapped alongside Jonathan was Samuel Oki- another relative of the former president.

Spokesperson of the Bayelsa Police Command, Asinim Butswat, on Tuesday evening, was reported to have confirmed Jonathan’s release, but without precise information.

“The victim has been released and reunited with his family but I am yet to get the detail,” Butswat was quoted to have said.

Jonathan’s uncle is reported to have undergone medical examination at the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa.
