[The Injustice Blog] Dear President Buhari, you’ve had enough of Magu and Daura

Magu

For anyone who choose to take a closer look at President Muhammadu Buhari and the criticism trailing his administration, it won’t take much time for  such researcher to see the likely cause of such criticism. Since the President has chosen not to look inward like the proverbial crippled man that people complained of the wrong position of the load on his head, but calls their attention to his crippled leg which necessitated such, the President will be at the receiving end of such criticism.

The President still enjoys some goodwill from Nigerians but the actions of two major individuals in his cabinet might deplete his popularity if they are not eased out. It’s a known fact that political positions are means of rewarding electoral good work and a way for politicians to consolidate power.

However, After two years, the time has come for the Presidency to cull the herd and throw out  Mallam Ibrahim Magu the EFCC Chairman and Mallam Lawal Daura the Director General of the Directorate of State Services (DSS). These individuals have been charged with running sensitive positions in the country. Mishandling of such positions has a direct effect on the President and the Presidency entirely.

Since the appointment of these two individuals they’ve acted more as a set of individuals planning to take each other’s pound of flesh. The EFCC and the DSS two major bodies with major roles to play in the “anti-corruption war” of the Buhari Presidency has been at loggerheads.

It all started from the failed screening of Magu which was truncated by the DSS, this same rivalry played out during the discovery of heavy sums of money at the Ikoyi Apartment in Lagos. Ambassador Ayo Oke then DG of NIA was reported to have informed the EFCC Chairman that the building housing the cash was a safe house which was being protected then by some officers drafted from the DSS but Magu went ahead with the operation.

Tuesday November 21, 2017 their rivalry was reignited as the DSS prevented the EFCC from arresting the former Director General of the DSS Ekpenyong Ita due to an unknown order from above.

This action by the DSS and the EFCC is another continuation of their show of  shame which is not in the interest of the Buhari Presidency. Magu and Lawal Daura are misusing the influence their respective positions provide as a means to engage each other in a pointless inter-agency feud. If they cannot acts as professionals then perhaps it is time for President Buhari to get rid of the both of them.
