Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium was evacuated on Tuesday evening ahead of the club’s UEFA Champions League game with FC Barcelona by what was described only as an ’emergency’.
Staff and fans were forced to leave the ground at approximately 4.45pm.
A fan Adam Matues tweeted, “Turned up at Etihad to watch City v Barca in directors box and stadium is getting evacuated and alarm going off!”
Staff were allowed back inside the building at about 5pm following the brief evacuation ahead of tonight’s kick-off at 7.45pm.
