Kemi Adetiba‘s King of Boys still remains one of the buzziest, crowd-pleasing films from 2018, dominating the box-office for months and featured an imperious performance from Sola Sobowale, and a supporting act in Adesuwa Etomi-Wellinton and Toni Tones, not to mention rappers and also newcomers Illbliss and Reminisce. That said, the gripe about the movie was its overlong duration time, clocking at three hours.
Frankly, I didn’t mind the long hours. And now, Adetiba has announced that the movie will be re-released with an extended cut on Amazon Prime Video this Friday.
So happy to announce that the first installment of the KOB Film Dynasty, will be LIVE on AMAZON Video from FRIDAY 5TH OF JULY!
We’ve also added 25 mins of NEVER BEFORE SEEN SCENES to the @kingofboysmovie. Means, if you think you’ve seen it before, you might want to watch again? pic.twitter.com/BJSb5sp69N— Kemi Adetiba (@kemiadetiba) July 3, 2019
What I love about King of Boys being available on a streaming service is that we get the chance to watch the film again, and now with some extra footage. Adetiba calls it ”never-before-seen scenes,” and I’m wondering where this footage would be inserted and how it could change the complexion of the story. Incidentally, Avengers: Endgame was re-released this extended scenes, and ostensibly to topple James Cameron’s Avatar as the highest-grossing movie of all time.
With Adetiba already hinting at a sequel, we just can’t get enough of the King of Boys dynasty.
