A commercial bus driver has been charged for manslaughter at a Yaba Magistrate’s court in Lagos.
Ajibade Segun, 41, was arraigned for killing one Olurotimi Williams with his bus and injuring two others on May 25 along the Third Mainland Bridge by Adekunle Intersection.
The charge sheet read in part:
“That you, Ajibade Segun,m, on the 25th of May, 2013, at about 1130 hours, along the Third Mainland Bridge by Adekunle Intersection, in Yaba, Magisterial District being the driver in charge of Bus with Reg. No. XU 960 AAA drove same and caused injury to one Opeyemi Williams, F and Ayobami Williams, M, of No 86, Kirikiri Rd., Olodi Apapa, Lagos contrary to section 28 of the RTL Cap. 172, Vol 7 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.”
According to reports, the three victims were members of the same family, living at 86, Kirikiri Rd, Olodi Apapa Lagos.

The Punch reports:
While Opeyemi and Ayobami Wiliams survived the accident and were still being treated at the hospital, Olurotimi was not so lucky as he died soon afterwards.
Segun was arraigned on a two-count charge of manslaughter and assault.
Segun said he was not guilty of the charges.
The counsel to the defendant applied for his bail in liberal terms.
The magistrate, Mrs. M.A Ladipo granted the defendant bail upon the payment of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till July 16.
