‘Many killed as Boko Haram attack Borno town’

by Dolapo Adelana

The terrorist sect, Boko Haram Wednesday night attacked Magumeri, a town in Magumeri local government area of Borno state, The Cable reports.

According to a resident, who managed to escape the attack, many people were killed by the terrorists.

He said many residents of the town fled as they headed for Maiduguri, the state capital, while others are seeking refuge in the bush.

He added that houses were destroyed by the sect, while he saw smoke billowing from the area where the police station is situated.

“Most part of the town have been torched, while smoke was seen billowing over the area where the police station is,” he said.

“I can’t give the number of casualty, but many must have been killed by the terrorists.”

The source said he wondered why the military refused to prevent the attack despite being informed bout it early enough.

Attempts to reach the public relations officer of Operation Lafia Dole for confirmation was unsuccessful as his telephone line was out of reach.
