A brief sad drama ensued on Thursday, July 9, at the premises of the Federal High Court, in Kano after Sule Lamido, former governor of Jigawa, his two sons and an aide, Wada Abubakar, were sent to prison for 2 months.
The quartet were charged on a 28-count charge of corruption and money laundering of over N1.34 billion.

Vanguard reports that when prodded to head to the van, the former governor who was deeply emotional, exclaimed, ‘you mean I’m now a prisoner.’
The Deputy Chief Registrar of the Court, Solomon Akpedah, a magnanimous man, replied him saying: “no sir, you are not a prisoner.”
According to Justice Evelyn Anyadike’s ruling, the four accused persons would be remanded in Kano prison pending the appointment of a vacation judge to decide the veracity and other wise of the bail application.
She said, “The case is hereby adjourned for hearing to September 28th, while the four accused persons are to be remanded in prison custody in Kano”.
