[The Sexuality Blog] Getting help after rape and sexual assault just got easier

Warif

Victims of rape and sexual assault need all the help that is available to them, and one of the things we have emphasised on is the lack of independent non-governmental organizations dedicated to helping victims of assault find help and ultimately justice against their attackers. Thankfully a new centre for sexual violence, assault and rape just opened.

The WARIF centre, founded by Dr. Kemi Da-Silva Ibru is  a sexual assault referral centre at No. 6 Turton Street, off Thorburn Avenue, Yaba (behind Ozone Cinemas) that connects victims of assault and rape to doctors, lawyers, psychiatric help and rehabilitation centres. Dr. Ibru was one of the attendants of the 72nd United Nations General Assembly where she went to advocate for stronger laws protecting victims of sexual assault and rape.

The centre has a 24-hour confidential hotline 08092100009 and accepts walk-ins. Please spread the word.
