After a curious wave of jailbreaks hit many prisons in the country, it appears the Federal Government has finally decided to take drastic measures in curbing the problem by replacing the Prison Service spokesperson, Ope Fatinukun.
We had long expected this – especially after Governor Ayo Fayose essentially called out Ekiti Prison Service officials accusing them of complicity in the jailbreaks.
Well, going back to the story for today – a new prison spokesman has been approved by the Controller General of Nigerian Prison Service (NPS), Peter Ezenwa Ekpendu – and he is Enobore Francis. The new man in the saddle is taking over from Fatinukun who has been transferred to Siberia Ilesha Prison in Osun state as Officer-in-charge.

– Mr. Francis enlisted into the Nigerian Prisons Service in December 1991. He had served at Oko Prison, Edo State before he was transferred to the Headquarters of the Prison Service where he worked in various directorates.– He joined the Public Relations Division of the service Unit in 2007.– He was appointed Coordinator/Script Writer of the weekly TV programme “Behind the Walls” in 2009.– Before his recent appointment, he was the Officer-in-Charge of Kafanchan Prison, Kaduna State.– Francis holds a Master Degree in Crime Management and Prevention and is a member of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.– His hobbies include reading, lawn tennis and swimming.– And just in case you see an escaped prisoner in your neighborhood wo you gonna call?
