Nollywood has a great selection of movies coming out this August to keep viewers rooted to the front of their tv screens. Exploring all genres from comedy, to actions to romance and even thrillers. These are some of the movies and series you should look out for this August:
- Dead Tide (August 1st)
After leaving military life, Itoro’s only wish is to live a peaceful life, but his world becomes chaotic after Sade, a stranger who accidentally captured a viral video of the president’s son committing murder stumbles into his beachside bar.
It was directed by Soji Ogunnaike, and some of the cast are Ikechukwu y, Eniola Ajao and Folu Storms. It premiered in cinemas nationwide.
- Hakeem: Seeking Justice (August 1st)
A man haunted by his grief is forced to face a corrupt justice system built under the silence of the powerless.
It was directed by JJC Skillz Bello and some of the cast members are Deyemi Okanlawon, Chioma Chukwuka, Gabriel Afolayan and Regina Daniels. It is in cinemas nationwide.
- The Benefactor (August 8th)
A rising musician has to face a difficult challenge when a man who once helped her with her career in the past makes a troubling demand from her.
Directed by Adeoluwa Owu, Bimbo Ademoye plays the role of the rising artist. It will be released in cinemas.
- Visa On Arrival (August 8th)
The seventh season of the series Visa On Arrival is set to return on Accelerate Tv and continue to follow the lives of visa officers Charity, Okoro, Faith and Frances. It will be available on accelerate tv for viewing.
- Abanisete (The Ancestor) (August 15th)
In a world of traditions, spirits and family, the lives of people trying to connect with their ancestors through rituals and dance is explored. To fight the unexpected rise of a powerful threat, they must call onto the power of their ancestors.
It was directed by Itele and produced by Femi Adebayo. Some of the cast members are Femi Adebayo, Olarotimi Fakunle, Omowunmi Dada and Lateef Adedimeji. It is set to premiere in cinema nationwide
- Devil Is A Liar (August 15th)

Adaora falls quickly in love with a man who she thinks is too good to be true, as their relationship deepens a man with manipulative and controlling behavior is unearthed, proving her assertion to be true.
Directed by Moses Inwang, some of the cast include Nse Ikpe Etim, Mercy Aigbe, James Gardiner and Nancy Icime. It will be available for streaming on Netflix.
- Fatal Seduction (August 15th)
The new season of Fatal Seduction explores Nandi’s life in prison after being framed for murder and in an environment surrounded by his enemies. It will be available for streaming on Netflix.
Some of the cast include Warren Masemola, Prince Grootboom, and Thapelo Mokoena.
- Revelations (August 15th)
A Nigerian American couple on the edge of a break up receive the shock of their lives with a revelation that they can never escape.
The film was directed by Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) who is also a cast member of the movie, alongside his son who is making his acting debut. Other cast members include Nnamdi Kanaga, Chioma Akpotha and Seun Akindele. It will premiere in cinemas nationwide.
- Sin: Final Blackout (August 22nd)
This thriller film explores the worlds of crime, betrayal and survival and dives deep into the world of drug cartels and what the cost of staying alive in it looks like.
The film was directed by Dimeji Ajibola and Yemi ‘filmboy’ Morafa. Some of the cast members are Yemi Blaq, Toke Makinwa, Toni Tones and Chidi Mokeme. It is available for streaming on prime video.
- The Serpant’s Gift (August 29th)
The sudden death of a businessman forces his widow to suffer through a fierce battle over his inheritance and the level of greed of his family members is unveiled.
It was directed by Kayode Kasum and some of the cast members are Linda Ejiofor-Suileman, Tina Mba, Stan Nze, Beverly Osu and Ric Hassani. It will premiere in cinemas nationwide.
