The Appeal Court in Abuja on Wednesday reserved judgment on the hearing of an appeal filed by factional candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede to overturn his substitution as candidate of the party in the forthcoming Ondo governorship election.
Jegede in his appeal seeks to overturn the order by Justice OKon Abang that INEC substitutes his name with that of Jimoh Ibrahim who belongs to the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the party.
Chief Wole Olaonipekun, counsel to Jegede opposed the hearing of the appeal, just as the lawyer representing the PDP in the case, Mr. Godspower Mrakpor, also opposed the hearing of the appeal.
But the respondent’s lawyer, Ben Nwofor insisted that the appeal be heard.
However, the Justice Ibrahim Saulawa-led three-man panel reserved judgment on the appeal, stating that the date to deliver the judgment would be communicated to the parties through their lawyers.
