Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomole has attributed his prowess in leading a state to his mother, Alhaja Aishetu Oshiomhole; stating that whatever he is today is as a result of the upbringing he got from his mother.

According to Oshiomole, his mother, who he described as a “a strict disciplinarian’’ who gave him the right dosage of moral upbringing. She believed that sparing the rod would spoil the child.

Speaking on Saturday, in Iyamho, near Auchi, at the launch of a book titled “ Igovina Emosi’’- a biography of the governor’s mother, he said that from his experiences with his mother, there was need for children to honour and listen to their mothers.

Oshiomhole said that in spite of his age and status in the society, his mother still found time to advise, admonish and instill the right values on him.

Also speaking at the launch, the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Donald Boi, described the governor’s mother as “a mother to all exemplifying truth, honesty equity and humility.’’

Professor Marcel Okhakhu, who gave a review of the book said that the book chronicled the life and times of the mother of the Edo Governor, which can be likened to a tale of two cities — Paris and London.

“It dealt with the life and times of Mama at Ayua, her native village and Iyamho, her village by marriage,” he said.

The book, which was written by Imuzeze Ofen-Imu, made about N27 million at the launch.
