Okpara Miracle, a rape suspect on Wednesday escaped from a Magistrates’ Court in Awka, Anambra State.

The 23-year-old allegedly destroyed the window louvres and ran into the nearby bush after his handcuff was removed.

Miracle was arrested for alleged kidnapping, rape and cultism.

He was about to be tried for allegedly kidnapping a minor and keeping her in an uncompleted building in Awka for several days.

An eyewitness said the suspect was able to escape due to the absence of protectors on the window.

“The accused was brought to the court in handcuff, but the handcuff was later unlocked with the hope that he will be of good behaviour before the unexpected happened,” the eyewitness said.
