In spite of the apparent opposition to his nomination, Senate President, Bukola Saraki and 12 other senators have vowed to put their support behind the confirmation of former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi as a cabinet minister.
3 Peoples Democratic Party senators representing Rivers states had objected to Amaechi’s nomination and are ready to scuttle his confirmation.
The Nation, however, reports that Saraki and former governors in the Senate are determined to spare Amaechi the blushes of humiliation.
Those in this group are Bukola Saraki, Godswill Akpabio, Sam Egwu, Theodore Orji, Joshua Dariye, Danjuma Goje and Rabiu Kwankwaso, Jonah Jang, George Akume, Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Ahmad Sani, Aliyu Wamakko, Adamu Aliero and Isiaka Adeleke.
Some of the senators have reportedly started making entreaties to other senators to secure the required support for Amaechi.
While Saraki is believed to be in charge of reaching out the All Progressives Congress senators, Minority leader, Akpabio is expected to talk to PDP senators.
