President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to formally present the 2016 budget to the National Assembly on Tuesday, December for evaluation and ratification.
During plenary session yesterday, the Senate went into an executive session, where it was decided that the Senators’ vacation will be postponed to enable the president present the budget.
The Senators are scheduled to embark on vacation today, but Senate President, Bukola Saraki, is believed to have pleaded with his colleagues to allow Buhari appear on Tuesday.
A source revealed to Vanguard that the Senate will only grant Buhari the opportunity of presenting the budget, and will not deliberate on it until after they return from vacation next year.
The source was quoted to have said: “We will not go on vacation on Thursday because President Muhammadu Buhari has pleaded that he will present the 2016 Budget to the National Assembly next Tuesday and we have agreed and after receiving the budget, we will proceed for the holiday.”
