A 14-year-old boy was arrested yesterday following a series of sexual assaults in Manchester.
He was held along with an 18-year-old youth. The arrests follow three attacks on women near Manchester University in the last month.
Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin said last night: ‘These crimes have shocked everyone and I am pleased to say that we have now made two arrests.

‘I would like to thank members of the public and the media for their support and the information they have provided and as a result, we are now in a position where two people are in custody and are being questioned.’
Earlier today police released a computerized image of the young suspect, whose extremely young age they said made the incidents ‘even more shocking’.
Officers are linking the men to assaults in the last month near the University of Manchester. The first two took place within 15 minutes of each other on September 21.

A 27-year-old was grabbed before she screamed and scared the offender off. Then an Asian boy reportedly made lewd comments to a 21-year-old woman as she left a library before attacking her.
In the third attack, on October 5, a 32-year-old was approached by two Asian boys and assaulted by one. Detective Constable Pam Collins said the attacker also made violent threats to the women.
