Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim is happy with whoever it was that released a video of him dressing up in a room in the presence of two ladies.
The Senator says he will investigate to find out the persons who may have been involved in the leak of the video. There is obviously a very convenient place to start – the person who apparently shot it got herself into the tape. It doesn’t preclude that she may have released it.
For some reason, the lady wanted to make sure we knew she was the one who was making the video. From the Senator’s comments in defence, he acknowledged that he was aware of the fact that he was being recorded, deciding to let her proceed with it. Maybe he felt secure in the knowledge that ‘nothing’ – besides a 67-year-old man who also is a public official – was being captured.
Ibrahim believes he may be up for a blackmail attempt. Someone, according to him, has tried to exert a demand from him, one he was not willing to meet, hence leading to the release of the video. Now that he wishes to go after this person, what will he be looking to allege or inflict?
It is difficult to input any wrong on the person who made this video; in a recession, everyone needs some streams of capital. Whether she (or he, who knows really?) was an active participant in whatever went down in that room, or a spectator brought along for another client, we do not know, and for our sanity, we should not bother.
What the concern would be right now is that Senator Bukar Ibrahim does not follow up on this with a fit of rage that wrecks an undeserved fate on a poor amateur filmmaker. After all, he knew he was on set and was playing to the unscripted reality show. If there is a sequel – that show the prelude we did not see – let it come forth.
