If noise and visibility were the only measure of success for a Nigerian lawmaker, then Dino Melaye would be ahead of every single one of his peers this week on our ranking.
However, it isn’t. But despite the academic records scandal the Kogi West Senator has battled this past week, he’s seen activity that leaves him befitting of acknowledgement. Specifically, the progression of his anti-tribal marks bill, which passed a second reading in the Senate.
It’s an odd turn of events, but, after a week of serious allegations (which, curiously enough, Melaye has managed to respond to with some level of restraint,) Senator Dino Melaye finds himself at the #1 position for the first time.
Whether this is due to Melaye’s own achievements alone, or is purely a function of the lack of respectable activity that has all but become the hallmark of the Nigerian Senate, is a conclusion we’ll leave to you.
