In honour of Stella Monye’s artistic resilience, telecommunications brand, Airtel, and other corporate bodies like Guinness Nigeria plc, Nigeria Distilleries limited, agencies, governments and individuals have thrown their weight behind the Project Samba, a multi-media vehicle created to provide hilarious entertainment and interminable thanksgiving that will focus attention on the African samba.
Project samba is to be an annual item on the African entertainment calendar said to give verve to the wheels of life.

The Samba sound of Stella Monye is an intricate blend of cosmopolitan African sounds. It is a vehicle enabling her to show her diverse talents as a delectable urbane screen and stage diva.
As she approaches her golden jubilee and the 30th anniversary since her music became the mainstay of her income, Monye has been known as Nigeria’s ‘Samba Queen.’
Stella Monye is not known to have recorded many albums in her career, but she has been active, participating in many musical activities. Her songs “Oko Mi Yee’ and ‘One Nation’ were major hits in the 80s.
