There’s some show down between the Senate and the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd).
The Senate instructed the Comptroller General to appear before them in uniform and the latter is treating this as treasonable offence.
Beht why?
Twittet Nigeria attempts to get to the bottom of this. Do see below:
I still don't understand why @NGRSenate insists that the Comptroller Gen of Customs must appear in Customs uniform…can someone explain pls

it's just plain ego from both sides. Scratching the surface instead of analysing issues. Wasting precious time.
— Chinelo Ugwu (@nelougwuc) March 14, 2017
so the significance is MORALE..if I hear correctly…
— Esther Ogun-Yusuf (@MaupeO) March 14, 2017
Misplaced priority. Leaving substance to pursue shadow I must say. How does ordinary uniform solve anything? Smh

He never served in the Customs and therefore illegal for him to wear the uniform. He is a political appointee, period.

Nigeria custom is a para-military organization, not wearing it uniform as the head is an indiscipline.
— abdul-abdul (@alayaabdul1) March 14, 2017
So if he wears the uniform, will he draw a 'customs pension and gratuity' after he 'retires' from 'customs'?
— Mandage (@Mandage_Est1960) March 14, 2017
@sunrisedailynow @NGRSenate what don't u understand ma, he should appear in uniform or be called a sole administrator. So simple
— Patrick O Agoro (@strongyard) March 14, 2017

— Elder Statesman (@AfeesAdebayo) March 14, 2017
They just want to show him that NASS has got superior powers than the CG who is an appointee. @sunrisedailynow @NGRSenate

— Otunba Ayodeji (@ddemocrat20) March 14, 2017
Does the Constitution give the Senate any DISCIPLINARY power?
— Elder Statesman (@AfeesAdebayo) March 14, 2017
That is a different matter altogether though yes they can.
— Olatunde Odunsi (@olatundeaOdunsi) March 14, 2017

Most of these senators or their relatives are car dealers and they are affected with the new policy of this man
— Olabinjo TunEmmanuel (@Olabinjoemmanue) March 14, 2017
simply put.. They are major victims… 80% of them..
— Jb Abru (@jbabru) March 14, 2017
If he feels that as a retired military man, he remains a military man, and should not wear the Customs uniform; resign!
— Anthony Mark-Chinye (@mcantoic) March 14, 2017
d basis of this argument is to point out an outsider was brought in to head d agency. Can u appoint a civilian as COAS?
— Osike? (@ocyke) March 14, 2017
