Two days ago, Premium Times published a report about the ongoing skirmish between Fulanis and local militia in Taraba state. Twitter NG barely stirred at the announcement. According to Dr Gamawa, most newspapers didn’t even deign to carry the news and he wondered why.
See below:
Many Fulani people were killed in Sardauna LGA, Taraba State, and their property destroyed. Most of the newspapers ignored the news. Why?
— Dr. Aminu Gamawa (@aminugamawa) June 21, 2017
Nigerians are killed in Taraba.
Their homes destroyed.
Going on since Saturday.
The press doesn't give a damn.
Because Fulani.

We select outcries.
Sure nobody will cry for you like you.
But the silence from media & government in this case is deafening. #Taraba

Questions like these bring out radicals and the unhinged who responded as the spirit led:

But at some point the media was fingered as being biased and hypocritical:
Because they are Fulani plain and simple #mediabias

In short, media hypocrisy.

But is this really the case? Aren’t those persons pointing fingers at the media for hypocrisy suffering the same malady?
You see, it wasn’t that long ago when Chocolate City Group boss Audu Maikori, who decided to take it upon himself to blow open the silent atrocities that were being committed in the Southern region of Kaduna was arrested for incitement.
In fact, under this administration, a good number of journalists have found themselves on the other side of freedom simply for publishing views critical of the government. @King Alfred calls it a case of pot calling kettle.
He explains below:
"Media doesnt care bcos victims are fulani"
Err no,media didnt care for South Kaduna such that indigenes had to shout & got arrested for it

We cannot create & enable a silent media when atrocities happen just to support the narrative "BH has been defeated"
Then complain about it
— King Alfred (@King_Alfreds_II) June 22, 2017
We created & supported the silence of the media because of politics – citizens got arrested trying to fill the info gap
We can't preach now
— King Alfred (@King_Alfreds_II) June 22, 2017
No society ever progressed on destroying institutions & then demanding they work effectively only in our case
Doesn't work that way
— King Alfred (@King_Alfreds_II) June 22, 2017
Do not be deceived, whatever a man sows, the same shall he reap
We have planted the wind….We will reap the whirlwind
