True love? Husband rescues wife who tried to kill him by setting their house on fire

The incident happened in an Osaka home, after the couple had a furious row

A furious wife who tried to ‘annoy’ her husband by setting the house on fire ended up being trapped in the blaze – forcing him to rescue her.

Masumi Nishino, from Osaka, west Japan, got into a heated row with her spouse, who decided to sleep in the office part of their home.

The 48-year-old was determined to punish her husband, and began lighting pieces of paper and pushing them into gaps in the wall that separated the house from the office.

Tiring of this, she then went to bed, leaving the burning paper smouldering – and causing the house to catch alight, Japan Daily Press reported.

Her husband woke up to the smoke and realized his wife was trapped, so he rescued her from the burning home.

Both suffered smoke inhalation from the August 31 and were taken to hospital, where the brave husband remains.

Nishino has been charged with arson and attempted murder, Rocket News 24 reported.

In a statement she said: ‘I was just trying to annoy him. I had no intention of killing him or even burning down the house. I had no idea this would happen.’
