UNILAG becomes latest casualty of fuel scarcity (PHOTOS)

Unilag lecturer slaps woman and tears her clothes

Following the massive student protest that halted academic and social activities in the campus, the management of the University of Lagos has ordered students of the institution to vacate the school premises before 10:00 am on Friday.

The students had on Thursday embarked on protest to express their grievance over the decrease in power and water supply in the campus.

In a memo circulated around the campus, the university authorities cited poor supply of fuel, which has caused massive queues at fuel station and hardship to Nigerians, as the main reason behind the decrease in provision of water and electricity.

The university is to be shut down to prevent unforeseen damages to school properties or loss of lives. Students were given less than three hours to vacate the premises.

The school will be reopened for academic activities once the lingering fuel scarcity ends.

Currently, security forces have been deployed to the school to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
