What we know about the rumoured death of APC’s Abiola Ajimobi

Immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has in the last 3 days been on the lips of many. From reports about him falling into a coma on Tuesday to Wednesday’s announcement by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of his appointment as the Acting National Chairman of the party amidst the drama surrounding the suspension of the Adams Oshiomhole as head of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Ajimobi has had the buzz around him grow for the social and politically inclined Nigerians.

However, rumours of his death filtered into the internet late Thursday, with many tweeting about his reported demise and sharing what this means for APC as a party. These claims were also diffused by others who claimed that their reports are not accurate.

Some who shared the news of his death, emphatically stressed that their sources were accurate as they shared that Ajimobi had died in over complications arising from the earlier reported case of coronavirus.

On Twitter, those that held on to the ‘report’ that Ajimobi had died were also quick to share the details of his recent appointment with APC as they shared that the party had planned before the assigned such role to a man not healthy enough.

Others on the Ajimobi trend, also pointed out that while the former Oyo State governor may not be dead, he is in a critical condition as they also went further to wish him a speedy recovery.

The trend about the death of Ajimobi has now been knocked off as an aide, family and close sources of the APC Deputy National chairman (South), have refuted the claims that he is dead as they tagged the news as fake.
