Wike suspends Works Commissioner… days after discarding Amaechi’s monorail project

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, has suspended his Commissioner for Works, Kevin Wachukwu.

The Works Commissioner was suspended with immediate effect on Friday, April 1.

Wike’s Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, disseminated news of the suspension.

Wachukwu’s Special Adviser on Special Projects has been asked to take over the responsibility of supervising projects in the ministry.

Nyesom Wike had recently stated that the people of Rivers state urged him to discontinue the monorail project of his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi.

Wike had emphatically declared on a Channels Television programme that he won’t touch the project which was started by his former boss, who’s now the Minister of Transportation.

“Rivers people have told me not to touch the monorail left behind by the other government,” the governor had said.
