Ubi Franklin

From working as an assistant to the comedian; Julius Agwu to eventually managing big name artistes like Tekno Miles and Iyanya, Ubi Franklin is amongst the trail blazing individuals who can tell his tale of an impressive rise to fame. He is one of Nigeria’s most prolific media personalities with his hands in a number of media ventures. He is a Nigerian music artist manager, a politician, an entrepreneur, a presenter and the founder/CEO of his own record label; record label Made Men Music Group (Triple MG). coupled with the aforementioned enterprises, he also nowadays run a social media blog on Instagram rivaling in numbers, some of the big name blogs like Dairy of a Naija girl, Instablog and Tundeednut. Last year, he was appointed the post of Special Adviser on Tourism by Cross River State Governor Benedict Ayade. Although a magnet for controversy in the past, these days his created an identity of a devout father and a Christian advocate for himself.

Wale Lawal

Donning the moniker; Print Gawd, Wale Lawal is a media merchant, who has devised for himself the goal of reporting stories that would have otherwise been swept under the carpet. He is the founder of the Republic Journal a media publication which he uses to deliver In-depth coverage of underreported stories and issues affecting Nigerians and Africans at large. He is also the founder of Gate Pass a () which he describes as a The Digital Solution Helping Communities Grow Together. He was included in the Forbes 30 under 30 2021, for his outstanding work in media.  

Uche Pedro

With the goal to show the world the glitz and glamorous lifestyle of the Nigerian elite and celebrities, this media savant came up with the brilliant idea of Bella Naija. Since then the platform has been one of a kind, delivering the scoop on the latest major events in the country. The platform also has other niches, like the latest on TV programs and trendy topics. Last year Uche Pedro was mentioned as one of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Africa by Forbes. She was also one of the honorees of this year’s Royal African Awards.

Temilola Balogun Akinmuda

When you talk about multi-talented people in the media, you can’t help but mention this woman’s name. She is an OAP, a blogger and a television show producer, all of which she has experienced a great deal of success in. Temilola Balogun Akinmuda popularly known as Tyami B is an award winning blogger. She is the voice behind Cool FM’s Good Morning Nigeria show. She’s also the producer behind the popular YouTube series; Skinny Girls in Transit. She is a business woman who founded Shoptaymib an online fashion store. Perhaps what she most hangs her hat on is her career as a mother.

Joey Akan

There are very few people in the media who understand the entertainment industry as well as this writer. He is a highly accomplished writer who has contributed to big name publications such as New York Times, Okay Africa, CNN, Pitchfork and more. He continues to show amazing dexterity with his opinion of pop culture in Africa. He is currently the Entertainment Editor of News Central TV, and the West African Arts & Culture Commissioning Editor for The Conversations Africa. He is the founder of Afro Beats Intelligence, a weekly newsletter on the African Music industry.

Aisha Salaudeen

Aisha Salaudeen is one of Nigeria’s media gems as it relates to curating stories for international publications. She began her media career in Radio back when she was still a student and in no time earned herself a byline on; Al Jazerra. Focused on business, culture and social issues, she would later write for Stears Business and CNN. In 2020, she was the recipient of a few awards including the Future Awards Prize for Journalism, and the British Vogue list of 50 Trailblazing Creatives and Young Activists from Across.

Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori

As a media powerhouse there is scarcely any thing relating to media this woman can’t do. Popularly known as Kie Kie, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori is a content creator, event & TV host, a fashion enthusiast, and an actress, who over the years have garnered a sort of cult following. Her rise to prominence began back in 2015, when she scored her first gig with GoldmyneTv as a TV fashion-producer and presenter. She has since then, gone on to become of Nigerian media most prominent stylist. She is the creative director of the fashion brand, Accost Collections. Currently, she has her own YouTube page with subscribers nearing 100k, where she hosts interviews with celebrities and does fashion reviews, as well as create content.

Nkiru Mordi

In 2019, the reverting documentary; Sex for Grades was released, and the content of the investigative footages were so shocking, that they shook the entire nation. Kiki Mordi was the journalist behind this investigative masterpiece. On 9 July 2020, the Nigerian Senate passed the anti-sexual harassment bill, while proposing up to 14 years’ jail term for offenders, thanks in no small part to her expose. In 2020 she received the One Young World’s award for Journalist of the Year. She is the Co-Founder of Document Women, a media platform whose goal is to tell forgotten or scraped stories of the works of great women, both past and present. She is also an Emmy Nominated Journalist, and was listed by Women in Journalism 2020 25 most powerful women in journalism.

Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode

Popularly known as the Energy Gad, Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode or Do2dtun for short, has become a very prevalent individual in the Nigerian Media ecosystem. Whether it’s through television, social media or radio, it’s highly unlikely that you have not seen his face or heard his voice as a media consumer. Do2dtun is an on-air personality, a video jockey, an actor and a media entrepreneur. His voice can be heard on Cool FM on the late night show; Sleep Talk and the show Midday Oasis. He is the chief Brand Officer of Clout Africa which has worked with brand such as Budweiser and The Voice Nigeria. Very recently, he took home the Icons Noble Award for OAP of the Year 2021.

Ifedayo Agoro

She is the CEO of the highly influential media platform Diary of a Naija Girl, simply known as DANG. Having spent four years blogging in the shadows, Ifedayo Agoro had the brilliant idea of creating a platform that discusses major social issues, particularly the ones that affect women. The unique selling point of her idea was the way she did it. In a conversational style DANG presents topics that gives the audience a voice too. Soon after DANG evolved to also accommodate lifestyle content. It’s a platform that has inspired so many ladies in Africa. Today, she is one of the powerful forces on social media sparking conversations.

Fisayo Soyombo

Fisayo Soyombo is a journalist who like Kiki Mordi brings a lot of courage to his work. He is responsible for the investigative piece that exposed the corrupt inner workings of the Nigerian prison system. To deliver the piece, he had to endure time in prison, were he got first hand evidence of the horrors that happened within it. For his work, he has received numerous awards including the Fetisov Journalism Awards, Kurt Schork Awards in International Journalism and more. He is the founder of the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ). Last year, he was at the center of a controversial event.  Last year, he continued with his work in exposing cold hard truth by breaking the news of Senator Abiola Ajimobi’s demise as a result of COVID-19 complications; days before a confirmation by former Oyo Governor’s family.

Tunde Ednut

If you are a Nigerian who enjoys social media contents, then you no doubt must have heard of this man. He is the architect of the highly sought after Tundeednut brand, a platform that has succeeded in giving exposure to a lot of young talented content creators and by extension making them widely successful. In just the previous year, he laid the ground work for content creators like Viper the Wiper, James Brown, and iamnasboi. amongst many others to become the success stories they are today. He was also instrumental in rallying fans behind Laycon last year, to vote him the winner of the Big Brother Naija show. This year, his Instagram account which had millions of followers was suspended, and upon reopening he hit a million followers from 0 followers in one week, and when that account was taken down and reopened again, he hit a million followers in the same one-week span, showing the grip hold he has on young Nigerians. He has shown great prominence and influence online, and has shown the ability to rally his legion of followers behind a cause.

Motolani Alake

There are very people in the media that are as well versed as this writer when it comes to the topic of music. He is one of Nigeria’s finest and entertaining music journalist. His knowledge and take on the inner workings of the Nigerian music industry is simply unmatched. There is hardly any event in the music scene, past or present that Motolani does not comprehend. Having begun writing from the tender age of 12, and then becoming a songwriter and producer, Motolani draws from an experience personal to him to now have the expertise to discuss the intricacies of the music industry. He is the resident music writer for Pulse Ng, and the anchor for the segment Facts Only. He is the co-founder at Urban Central, a media and entertainment focused on promotions an PR marketing. 

Toke Makinwa

Popularly known as Baby Girl 4 Life, or The Media Girl, you don’t mention top gam players in the media without including Toke Makinwa. She is a multi-talented individual who has shown incredible dexterity in radio, TV, social media and YouTube. She began her illustrious career in radio when she worked The Morning Drive show as a co-host on Rhythm 93.7 FM. She then pivoted into hosting, and soon after YouTube. Last year, alongside Nancy Isime, she co-hosted the third season of the Voice Nigeria. A number of her interviews on YouTube went viral as well as some of the projects she collaborated on. She is also a lifestyle and fashion influencer, who has won the hearts of many young women and men across the continent.

Ariyiike Owolagba

This media personality has served in the capacity of content acquisition specialist at IDEA MEDIA LTD, and Executive Assistant to the CEO and Director of Operations at Aristokrat Records, Ariyiike has branched fully into the business of acting, TV presenting, TV production, podcasting and entrepreneurship. Over the course of her extensive career, Ariyiike has been called the MediaSweetheart, a name that has been very well deserved. She is the host of TVC’s Entertainment Splash, a show which was practically tailor made for the sort of peppy energy she exudes. She also anchors her own her own Vlog and Podcast; Girl Talk with Ariyiike. She is also the host of the popular food television program; Urban Kitchen Show, where celebrities guests are featured to come show their culinary skills.
