Former Senate President, David Mark, has suffered a setback in his bid to win re-election as the Senator representing the Benue South Senatorial District.
David Mark, who’s election was nullified and rescheduled for February 20, is due to square up with Daniel Onjeh of the All Progressives Congress.
Mark’s bid for a successful election was hit by the defection of thousands of Peoples Democratic Party members in Benue-South, to the APC.
Among the defectors were prominent politicians, including- the former Governor Gabriel Suswam’s deputy, Steven Lawani, two former ministers, Prof. Jerry Agada and Sam Ode, a former federal permanent secretary, Mike Onoja, Senator Godwin Okpe and several others.
The defectors were received by the National Chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, in Oturkpo Local Government Area of Benue state.
Odigie-Oyegun said the district could not afford to be in opposition, when they had a chance to join mainstream politics.
