Yesterday was a sad day for the Nollywood family as actress, Bisi Komolafe who died on Monday of complications arising from a miscarriage was buried in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Komolafe, who was said to have been four months pregnant was for a few days on admission at the University College Hospital, Ibadan and reportedly responding to treatment before her health condition suddenly relapsed.

Sources say she received more than 30 units of blood at the hospital.

He body was received from the UCH mortuary in the morning by members of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) who made their presence felt throughout the burial ceremony.

While speaking about the sad loss to the Noillywood family, fellow actor, Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr. Latin said she was a well-behaved actress.

“The members of Bisi Komolafe’s family should take solace in the fact that to die young when the ovation is loudest is better than to live the stage unsung. I want other up-and-coming actors and actresses to emulate her lifestyle,” he said.

Many of Komolafe’s colleagues turned up at the burial ceremony to pay her their last respect. They include Yinka Quadri, Bimbo Oshin, Moji Olaiya, Ayo Adesanya, Muyiwa Adekola, Femi Adebayo, Toyin Adegbola, Tayo Adeleye and Toyosi Arigbabuwo.

Others present at the event were the Governor, ANTP, Lagos State, Akeem Alimi Jibola Dabo, Ireti Osayemi, Razaq Olayiwola, Sunny Alil, Fathia Balogun, Yomi Fash-Lanso and Taiwo Hassan.

Komolafe was finally laid to rest at the Catholic Church Cemetery in Oke Are with tears flowing freely from friends, family and colleagues.

There are, however, unconfirmed speculations that Komolafe’s death might be due to abortion. A friend of the actress who spoke on condition of anonymity, reportedly said her four month-old pregnancy was allegedly terminated at another hospital before she transferred to the UCH.

  • It’s quite unfortunate for people to get themselves into peddling rumors they have no way of verifying. Why would she have waited four months to abort, given her age and, let’s be real, industry where single parentage is not stigmatized. I am sure it was an issue as simple as ectopic pregnancy that got ruptured. Our health care system is nothing to write home about. Continuous ultrasound would have recognized it before it ruptured and removed it.

  • Strange how inaccurate the aspect of the story relating to Komolafe’s death is. It will be a pleasure to see individuals better research issues before making pronouncements. I have it on strong authority that Komolafe had a background illness that led to her miscarriage & that she eventually succumbed to said illness. She had also been on admission in UCH for apparently closer to a month.

Let’s not defame the dead by reporting in accurately about them. We can seek permission from the family to get & put out the right details.

May her soul rest in peace.
