‘Salsa Night’ on eXploring with Biodun Laaro

eXploring, showing on ONTV, returned this week with another episode that reviews and investigates the exciting and interesting places that make Lagos exactly what it is, a place of excellence.

So, while it is known as a city for the hustle, there are also several choice spots in the city where Lagos residents are known to relax, unwind, network, and most especially, get a feel for foreign cultures and lifestyles. One of such places is The Garage.

Massively popular among dance enthusiasts and young professionals, The Garage is known for its dance classes on Kizumba, an African dance, Salsa, Tango, Samba and other form of dancing styles.

Classes are offered to any interested persons, where participants can just stroll into the club and join a group without a fuss. When Biodun Laaro, the host and guest host for this week’s episode Dolapo Ojelabi visited the club, it was the Salsa Night at The Garage.

Starting the show, Dolapo explained that he had been coming to the club for six years, where had witnessed the introduction of different dance styles, but Salsa was still the most popular choice among the members, while Kizumba, an Angola dance was also on high demand as well.

Buddy Agheda, the dance instructor at The Garage, also spoke with Biodun Laaro after a brief dance lesson.

Here, he explained how he started salsa in 2002, after watching Club Maya on the internet. He realised that dancing was what he wanted to do, even after he got the chance to work in a bank.

Over the years, he had managed to create his own dancing style, which he has taught in other European and American countries, and in Nigeria as well.

Expressing how there is a rising interest among Lagos residents in culture immersion and experience, Buddy also explained how The Garage is now a place a lot of people in Lagos visit to escape traffic, to meet new people, and to also learn new things.

eXploring airs on ONTV channel 41, every Wednesdays from 7.05 p.m to 7.30 p.m. It is a compelling 25 minutes show that promises interesting interview topics and investigations into the many entertaining sights, sounds and realities of life in Nigeria.
