Suspected ritualists: Doctor, 3 others arrested for mutilating the corpse of a 13-month-old baby

A medical doctor and three suspected ritualists were arrested recently for mutilating the corpse of a 13-month-old baby.

Baby Kingsley Ole had died at the Ajike Medical Centre in Sango Ota, Ogun state at about 7.30pm on Saturday but when Obinna Ole went to claim his son’s corpse, he discovered that the two eyes, tongue, lips, two ears, penis, nails and the left hand-vein had been mutilated.

According to reports, the three suspected ritualists whose names were given by the police as Oguntunde Opeyemi, Olaide Adeyanju and Temitope Muraina were said to have connived with the hospital owner and doctor, Babawale Joshua to mutilate the corpse.

The Punch reports:

But The Ogun State police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, said policemen attached to the Ota Divisional headquarters led by the DPO, Gabriel Dibie, moved to the scene and arrested the suspects.

Adejobi added that the remains of the baby had been deposited at the Ifo General Hospital for autopsy, while the state Commissioner of Police, Ikhemefuna Okoye, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, to take over the case.
