We will miss Pres. Jonathan for these 7… no, 8 things (PHOTOS)

by Anike Jacobs

After losing out at the March 28 polls, President Goodluck Jonathan is set to bow out in about six weeks from today, but not without leaving his footprints in the sands of time (excuse the cliche).

Here is a list of eight things we’ll miss about President Jonathan.

1.  His signature outfit and Fedora hat to match: President Jonathan is widely known and accepted for his signature native attire which he rocks at formal and informal events. What we would be seeing on the president-elect is more of Babariga – we think.

2. His truthful (almost insensitive) statements: When the Chibok girls were abducted under his watch, he publicly acknowledged ignorance of the situation even three weeks into the abduction. He was shockingly candid.

He often says the media knows more than he does.

3. His lies, or better still sarcasm:   Let’s give you three examples of his sarcastic statements; President Jonathan had promised all Nigerians in 2011 that he would not be staying in power beyond 2015, he assured that he will not contest BUT he did.

Also, during an interview with Cable News Network, CNN’s Christiane Amanpour,  President Goodluck stated that Nigerians are pleased with the power situation in the country. He even went ahead to challenge Amanpour to verify from ordinary Nigerians on the streets.

And finally, his claim that he had no shoes while growing up.

He stated: “I was not born rich, and in my youth, I never imagined that I would be where I am today, but not once did I ever give up. In my early days in school, I had no shoes, no school bags. I carried my books in my hands but never despaired; no car to take me to school but I never despaired.”

But apparently, he did have shoes at some point, going by the evidence of this throwback photo of his.

In the picture, Jonathan was pretty suave, had shoes and more.

4.  His ability to control his E-motions: Is it the fear of “Mama Peace”, or in strict adherence to the Bible passage “…If sinners entice thee, consent thou not”? Goodluck Jonathan sure knows how to keep his hands (and gaze) away from naughty stuff.

8. And finally, President Jonathan’s punch line of all time: “Stealing is not corruption, Ole is not corruption… Lets call an Ole an Ole!” #GBAMest!
