Kogi election: Yahaya Bello survives attack by irate youths at APC headquarters

Violence has broken out at the All Progressives Congress headquarters, in Abuja, on Monday, November 30.

Over 1,000 youths have gone haywire at the ruling party’s secretariat, while the leaders were meeting over the Kogi state election and the late Abubakar Audu’s replacement.

The party’s former candidate, Abubakar Audu, died shortly after governorship election, on November 21.

The youths reportedly arrived in buses marked ‘Dekina’, a local government area in the state and attempted to attack Yahaya Bello upon sighting him.

As Yahaya Bello arrived the secretariat premises, the youths attempted to lynch him but he was whisked away with concerted effort from the security agents stationed at the venue.

The youths, believed to be loyalists of James Faleke, deputy to the late Abubakar Audu went after Bello as he is rumored to be the preferred replacement for Audu, in the supplementary elections of Saturday, December 5.

The APC is expected to announce Bello as its governorship candidate for the polls.

Bello was the second runner-up to the late Audu, in the primary election of the ruling party.
