The English Premier League was explosive as always, last weekend, as over 30 goals were scored and some impressive individual displays recorded.
Here is a list of 10 players who impressed the most for their respective football clubs.
1.Tim Krul/Newcastle United
Despite conceding two goals, the Newcastle United goalkeeper impressed over the weekend against Chelsea, making two impressive saves against Cesc Fabregas and Ramires.
2.Nacho Monreal/Arsenal FC
He had a blinder of a game on the left of Arsenal’s defence. Monreal managed to limit the influence of the usually effective Riyad Myhrez, and was a constant threat on the flanks, and eventually created two assist for his team.
3. Toby Alderweireld/Tottenham Hotspurs
He scored a towering header in the first half as his side went on to claim a 4-1 victory over Manchester City. He helped his team dominate the game in the second half.
4. Virgil Van Dijk/Southampton
Virgil scored his first goal for the club with a superb first-half header and also carried out his duties in defence effectively, as he was rarely troubled.
5. Eric Dier/Totthenham
Dier scored a great goal to level the scores, pinging a 30-yard effort into the bottom corner of the goal post. He also dwarfed the increasingly ineffective Kevin De Bruyne in midfield.
6.Juan Mata/Manchester United
He tested the Sunderland defense with his intelligent and was at the heart of everything good United did. He also scored the winning goal in the second-half. He is gradually getting back to the form he showed during his time at Chelsea.
7.Erik Lamela/Tottenham
Easily the best player in the Spurs ranks, he tormented the Manchester City backline throughout the match, especially in the second half, when he scored his side’s winning goal. He was substituted to a standing ovation, later in the game.
8. Philippe Coutinho/Liverpool FC
He helped himself to two sublime assists and ran the Aston Villa defense ragged throughout the game at Anfield, with the Reds emerging deserved winners.
9:Alexis Sanchez/Arsenal FC
Arguably the best player over the weekend, he continuously tormented the Leicester defense with his direct running, dribbling skills and his killer eye for goal. He was named the man of the match after helping himself to three goals.
10.Daniel Sturridge/Liverpool FC
Back with a bang, the Liverpool forward led the the forward line excellently for his team in the absence of Christian Benteke. He would also score a stunning brace as his team defeated Aston Villa 3-2.
