Bad news for Arsenal: Mesut Ozil out for 3 months with knee injury

by Mark Bassey

Arsenal’s attacking midfielder, Mesut Ozil will be out of action for three months after suffering a knee injury.

The German Football Association (DFB) confirmed the news that the midfielder has sustained ligament damage in his left knee.

The DFB wrote on its Twitter page, “@MesutOzil1088 out for 10-12 weeks with partial lateral collateral ligament tear in left knee. Get well soon!”

Ozil had undergone scans earlier on Wednesday, 8 October, to ascertain the extent of the knee problem ahead of Germany’s Euro 2016 qualifiers with Poland and the Republic of Ireland.

The 25-year-old’s injury will see him miss the rest of Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League group-stage campaign, and he may be on the sidelines until January 2015.

North London side, Arsenal FC, has been plagued by several injuries this season, with striker Olivier Giroud (foot) and defender Mathieu Debuchy (ankle) out until December, while 3 important midfielders Mikel Arteta (calf) and Aaron Ramsey (hamstring) Theo Walcott (knee), have also been sidelined.
