Pre-Big Brother Naija, Bisola Aiyeola could boast of minimal popularity. She was on the ladder up to stardom and although she wasn’t exactly climbing with speed, her journey held strong promise.
Didi’s character was introduced in Season 2 of Ndani TV’s web series, Skinny Girl in Transit. Though her character is almost a dispensable addition to the plot of the show, Bisola Aiyeola plays Didi so well each each episode feels incomplete until she shows up. Her body language, her striking ability to mimic other people, her large eyes especially when she rolls them are some of the things that got us to pay attention to her.
Then while we were just beginning to understand her, this happened:
Kofoworola, the one-half of the most hilarious couple on Nigerian internet. When we saw this, we were rest assured we had the next big hit on our hands but after a short time, we could no longer account for the show.
Then, we had her radio show to turn to. Bisola Aiyeola was introduced in 2015 as one of the OAPs of the newly-established women-centric radio station, WFM 91.7. Her multiple radio character quickly endeared radio listeners to her drivetime show. Simultaneously, her popularity swelled on Instagram. She’s not your everyday Instagram comic act but she’s just as funny and something stood her out. She was able to personify different characters: Bisola the local hairdresser, Bisola the bus conductor, Bisola the cream chic, Bisola the teacher, Bisola the food hawker, Bisola the limitless.
Fast forward to January 2017 and she was announced as one of the housemates on the Big Brother Naija show and it was almost easy to tell what she wanted. A platform. And she has gotten that. From Day 1, she has showcased an impressive array of talents. Ms Aiyeola is a singer, actor, orator and all-round entertainer and to think that, she trained herself to be everything she is is most fascinating. She gained major respect when she revealed at the campaign days ago that she never got the opportunity to get a university education but she has built on her natural talents and we think that is brilliant.
Where will she go from here?
The answer is not far-fetched, there are no boundaries for Bisola. Yes, she has made it known that she wants to enrol in a film school right after the show but we doubt she will be spared by film producers, movie scripts and show gigs. Make no mistake, Bisola is going to be in our faces for a really long time starting Monday morning and we’re so ready for what she has to show to the world. #NaTheWorkWeyWeDeyDo
