It’s been a week since the third season of Big Brother Naija ended, a week since massive fan favourite Miracle walked away from the competition 25 million naira richer. But if you’ve been following the internet, specifically the #BBNaija hashtag and sieving for the right key names, it would appear as though the reality show never really ended.
As the last batch of ex-housemates – Cee-C, Miracle, Nina, Tobi, Alex – arrived the country’s international airport in Lagos, there were bombarded by fans. But was disturbing were the clips that surfaced online: Cee-C being physically and verbally abused despite the presence of airport security. Not to be morbid, but the clip felt like a rough cut of the show inserted back for our viewing pleasure. Then came the media tours – the fresh reality TV stars collectively gave an interview to Beat FM’s Toolz on Tuesday. Toolz had a lot of questions to ask the new celebrities, from who they thought would win the competition and their future projects.
The exciting thing about that interview was the sensational blog fodder Nina gave us. Her response to Toolz’s “Have you contacted Collins since you came out of the house” question was quite unexpected, as she referred to poor Collins as having “negative vibes.” I have watched Nina’s official rejection of Collins explode on social media with comments, reigniting the BBNaija hashtag and all its trappings.
And Nina took it a step further. On Instablog, I came across a clip of her asking people to stay away from her business, and her relationship with Miracle. She even mentioned marriage. Somebody is getting a little too big for her britches?
And who can forget Tobi’s daily epistles that include thinly veiled insults at and references to his well documented spats with Cee-C. His fans are clearly over the feuding and are now siding with Cee-C if the daily deluge of insults he receives are anything to go by. It’s interesting indeed that this has taken an interesting turn, and I have a feeling we are yet to see the end of Double Wahala.
