The Executive Director, Victims Support Fund, Prof. Sunday Ocheche has said the organization is planning to empower widows and other women who were victims of insurgency with N120m.
Ocheche said this at the inauguration of the programme in Adamawa on Wednesday.
He said the aim of the programme was to create business opportunities for the widows in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.
“As part of the organisation’s humanitarian intervention in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, about 7,000 widows and other vulnerable women would be assisted with unconditional cash grant.
“Each beneficiary will receive N20,000 cash to restart a small business of her choice,” Ocheche said.
He said the organization decided to expand the programme after successfully assisting 1000 Internally Displaced Women in Maiduguri last year.
