President Muhammadu Buhari who was expected to flag-off the campaign of Rotimi Akeredolu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress at the forthcoming Ondo governorship election on Thursday was absent at the event.
The National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and governor of neighbouring Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola were also absent.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo had announced that the President and other notable party leaders will be present at the rally.
The event commenced on Thursday morning at the Democracy Park in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Recall that there had been crisis over the emergence of Rotimi Akeredolu as the party’s candidate.
