Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu submitted his petition to President Muhammadu Buhari, only after it was leaked to the media, TheCable reports.

According to the online news medium, the letter which was dated August 30, 2017 was only submitted on October 5 after it leaked on October 3.

It was learnt that after the letter was leaked, the registry of the Chief of Staff, which receives the President’s letter denied receiving any such letter from the minister.

It was gathered that Kachikwu was asked to provide an acknowledgment copy of the letter, but he was unable to.

He was then directed to submit another copy, which was received and stamped “received” on October 5.

According to TheCable, the formatting of the letter received was different from the copy which was leaked.

In the new copy, the last paragraph on the opening page had four lines, whereas there were only two lines in the internet version with the other two lines “jumping” into the second page.

The Minister claimed he sent the letter to Daura where President Muhammadu Buhari celebrated Eid el-Kabir.
